After last week's hugely disappointing loss to Worplesdon Phoenix, Dial Square were keen to bounce back and prove a point.
So, when Lewis Afflick put The Dial ahead after just 3 minutes on the clock, things looked promising.
With the match having survived a pre-match pitch inspection, things got off in the best possible way. However, the joy was short lived, when we conceded a penalty less than 5 minutes after taking the lead.
Borges was sent the wrong way and it was 1-1.
Dial bounced back well. Kirkland, a driving force in the final third, looked sharp and with Lewis and Ricardo causing problems up top too, Dial were coming out on top.
It wasn't until we were deep into injury time (and it was very deep into injury time), that we retook the lead. Ramsay finishing well after a good move. 2-1 up at half time and things were going well.
Shortly after the break, Virginia Water levelled. Borges beaten from distance after sloppy play from the home side.
Defensive frailties from the previous week, were starting to creep back into the team and things got even worse 5 minutes later, when a cross from the right-hand side, went totally unchallenged, leaving their guy with a free header from 8 yards out.
The goal of the game came less than a minute later, when Ricardo Ramsay levelled with a spectacular overhead kick.
There was hardly any time to take breath in the match and the goals were not done there. On 70 minutes, Virginia Water went 4-3 ahead and were starting to look like they may come away as unlikely victors.
It wasn't to be though on this occasion. Despite Lewis missing a great chance to level with just over 10 minutes remaining, Ross Kirkland capped off a superb performance to level with a great effort into the top corner.
It finished 4-4 and Dial had their first league points of the season. Despite an equaliser late on, it definitely felt like it was 2 points dropped, rather than a point gained.
