Dial are back on the road this Saturday (9 March) when we travel to Tongham in the Surrey County Intermediate League (Western) Premier Division.
Steve Brown’s side travel to Poyle Road Recreation Ground for the first time looking to extend Dial's unbeaten run to eight league matches since late November 2023; only one of which has been at Alwyns Lane.
After beating Manorcroft United 7-2 two weeks ago, and having already beaten Tongham twice this season in the league (3-2) and county cup (5-1), Dial are not short of confidence as they close in on their first silverware in four years.
However, Brown is not one to rest on his laurels and will continue to demand his players maintain their laser sharp focus.
After a dip in form earlier in the year, The Redman have bounced back with two wins and one draw from their previous four league outings. It has elevated them to sixth in the table, so Brown is expecting a hard-fought encounter.
Dial will be without Arnie Linturn, Sam McDermaid, Connor Auns and captain Will Neville for the trip to the Recreation Ground. Striker Jordan Carter also looks doubtful after picking up an injury against United two weeks ago. However, Brown is pleased to welcome back Finley Rose-Davies, Dave Porcher and Louie Rogers into the 16-man squad.
Speaking to DialSquareFC.com on Thursday, Brown said: “It’s great to return to league action this Saturday after a fixture break last weekend.
“We had a great joint training session/friendly [2 x 30-minute periods] with Guildford United on Tuesday, which was a good opportunity to top-up the players’ fitness.
“We're at the business end of the season now, so it's imperative to keep focused and take it one game at a time. Hopefully, we can count on fans' support in-person over the next six to seven weeks, which starts away at Tongham,” he added.
For Fans travelling to Tongham by train, the nearest rail station is Ash, which is a 40-minute walk (1.7 miles) to the ground (route map). Please check South Western Railway’s live timetable here prior to departure.
For those travelling by car, there is ample parking available in and around Poyle Road Recreation Ground.
