Goal kings finally square off

Dial face their biggest challenge of the season so far when they entertain promotion-chasing Wimbledon Casuals this evening at Alwyns Lane. 7:45pm k.o.

Dubbed as a six-pointer, Dial boss Steve Brown is under no illusion of the importance to get a result against the Dons, who have yet to lose a match since the start of the season.

Tonight's visitors boast a formidable firepower, having already amassed 35 goals in nine league matches (including a 12-0 win away at Cranleigh), which equates to just under four goals per game. Only Dial have scored more goals from 12 outings (see table).

As things stand, only Dial and Wimbledon Casuals can satisfy the ground grading to gain promotion to step 6 from the teams currently in the top five of the Surrey Premier County Football League table.

Dial will be without captain Will Neville (unavailable) and Jordan Carter (groin strain) for the visit of the Dons. However, Brown is expected to welcome back Aidan Doran and Adam Sewell into the starting XI to bolster defensive options.

Speaking to DialSquareFC.com, Brown said: "Wimbledon are a well-organised side; they haven't lost a game yet for a reason, so we will need to play better than we did against Keens Park [Rangers] on Saturday.

"The players cannot afford to be lazy out of possession otherwise we'll get punished; they'll need to be completely focused on getting a result against Wimbledon. It's not a game where anyone can shrug-off responsibility," added Brown.

For supporters and football enthusiasts travelling to Alwyns Lane by train, the nearest rail station is Chertsey, which is a c. 15-minute walk (via Guildford Street and Windsor Street) to the ground. You can plan your journey here.

For those travelling by car, Alwyns Lane football ground offers very limited parking, which is principally for players and match officials. Therefore, spectators are asked to park with consideration in the neighbouring residential streets.

Admission charges apply: £5 (concessions £3). For more information, click here.
