DIAL HOST CRANES ON NON-LEAGUE DAY

Marc Brewer22 Mar - 06:00

Brown seeks uplifting performance

Dial could extend their advantage at the top of the Surrey Premier County Football League table this afternoon (22 March) when they host Cranleigh at Alwyns Lane. 2pm k.o.

Boss Steve Brown will be hoping his side can continue when they left off last Saturday after sweeping Hersham aside 4-0, thanks to goals from Louie Rogers, Jordan Carter, Aidan Phillips and Will Neville,

Dial's reignited goalscoring prowess, which has averaged four goals per game in the past four league outings, has moved them back into pole position; two points ahead of fellow promotion-chasers AFC Walcountians and with three games in hand.

Similarly, Cranleigh have been on an upward trajectory after dropping into the bottom two in November to now occupy a comfortable mid-table position.

The Cranes have suffered just one defeat in their last five league matches. They have made several new signings, including former Dial striker Adam Bicknell, since losing 2-1 against Dial on the opening day of the season.

Brown is expected to have a nigh on full squad available for the visit of The Cranes, with striker Charlie Marshall and midfielder Aidan Doran both expected to be named in the sixteen-man line-up. Dan Cenzano could also keep his place after an impressive performance against Hersham, while defender Callum Abraham-Barlow and midfielder Finley Rose-Davies are unavailable.

Speaking to DialSquareFC.com on Thursday, Brown said: "I've been really pleased with the boys' work-rate, resilience and level of consistency over the past few games. I've also been pleased with our clinicalness in front of goal in recent weeks.

"Although Cranleigh are several places are below us in the table, they are a difficult side to break down, as we found when we played them back in August. They seem to perform better away from home, so we can expect a tough game.

"We know that teams invariably raise their game when they come to Chertsey, so it's important that we remain focused on the task in hand to secure the [three] points. The boys know the plan, and it's up to them to executive it," he added.

For supporters and football enthusiasts travelling to Alwyns Lane by train, the nearest rail station is Chertsey, which is a c. 15-minute walk (via Guildford Street and Windsor Street) to the ground. You can plan your journey here.

For those travelling by car, Alwyns Lane football ground offers very limited parking, which is principally for players and match officials. Therefore, spectators are asked to park with consideration in the neighbouring residential streets.

The A3 at junction 10 of the M25 will be closed for the fifth and final time in both directions this weekend due to a demolition of a bridge. The closure started at 9pm yesterday (21 March) and will go through until 6am on Monday (24 March), so please plan an alternative route if you normally use the carriageway to travel to and from Alwyns Lane.
