Dial raise the bar in 2024

As we welcome a new year (2025), it’s important to reflect on Dial’s achievements over the past 12 months, both collectively and individually.

Dial kicked-off 2024 at the top of the Surrey County Intermediate League (Western) Premier Division and beating arch rivals Laleham & Kempton 8-2 at Royal Holloway Sports Ground (due to Alwyns Lane being waterlogged).

The team’s goalscoring proliferation continued, which saw Steve Brown’s side net 70 league and cup goals in 20 games (between 6 January and 2 May 2024). It culminated in Dial winning their first league title by 20 points over AFC Spelthorne Sports and lifting the Premier Challenge (League) Cup after a 4-0 win against Milford & Witney at Woking Park (home to Westfield).

Striker Harry Rice concluded the 2023/24 season by scoring 49 league and cup goals in 33 appearances. His 41 league goals beat the previous record (held since 2016) by six goals in 26 games, which saw him pick-up the Stan Collins Trophy for being the League’s top goalscorer.

After being unanimously elected to the Surrey Premier County Football League on 22 June 2022, Dial opened their new (step 7) campaign with a 2-1 away win at Cranleigh on 24 August. And despite suffering a setback against CB Hounslow & Abbots a week later, Steve Brown's side have remained unbeaten in the League since, with Rice again topping the goalscoring table for the first half of the season and beating Jordan Carter’s record for the fastest hat-trick (4m:42s) against Battersea Ironsides on 28 September.

Dial also increased the number of shareholders to 100 in September and further celebrated becoming one of the first clubs at any senior level of English football to remain unbeaten at home for two years (26 November 2022 – 26 November 2024).

What a year, what a club, what’s next?

Dial are back in league action on 4 January 2025 against AFC Royal Holloway at Alwyns Lane (2pm k.o.).
